The Jungle (abstract scratchboard) | Laura Kranz

There’s a lot to absorb about what is.

There’s a lot to wonder about what’s next.

Self-propelled systems iterate

and reiterate;

Renegade life careening somewhere.

Systems are reborn as new systems.

Every hour: change.

These systems tangle up into each other

Behind your back

Like vines—

Like jungles weaving through jungles.

scratchboard art the jungleThe Jungle is an abstract drawing I made on a piece of clay board which I coated with sumi ink. To make the drawing, once the ink dried, I used a sharp etching tool. I scraped away the ink in thin lines to show the white clay beneath.

It’s like drawing in reverse.
